NSRMEA Commissions State-of-the-Art Drilling Rig in Tajimi

The National Steel Raw Materials Exploration Agency has commissioned and put its newly acquired HYDX-6 Drilling rig to use at the Tajimi Iron Ore Resource in Kogi state. The rig, which has a hydraulic driving system, is the latest in the agency’s fleet as we seek to reposition and enhance our capacity for efficient service delivery.

The commissioning at Tajimi was extremely successful, with the exploration team producing cores from great depths. It was also an opportunity to display the agency’s expertise in the use of modern equipment and machinery, as well as a chance to train younger staff.

The HYDX-6 rig, which has proven performance index, has an adjustable mast between 0 and 90 degrees to give great hole-drilling angle. It has a drilling capacity of 1,500 metres for great results.

The latest addition now brings to five (5) the number of functional rigs in the agency’s fleet. The four others are mounted drilling rigs, namely; the Atlas Copco Mustang P4 Crawler, Atlas Copco Boyles C6C Multipurpose Crawler, Atlas Copco Boyles C6C Multipurpose Wheel, and the Massenza Crawler.
